This is a thread not just for the talented but also for the beginner. I hope to show inexpensive ways to create for your dolls and still have a nice look for nothing more than what you spend on snacks and everyday things in your house. Feel free to post mini tutorials with your works.
So lately the term "going green" has sparked some serious attempts in the past few years to recycle and save the earth. Well my intentions weren't quite so altruistic. I tend to find mysel recycling because I look at something and see something else. This happens a lot with clothes, socks etc. I also don't always have money or other things I see and want or I decide i want it not NEED it and leave it be. In the BJD world I started and continue still to recraft socks. Recently I found inspiration in, of all things, plastic bottles. I learned that plastic bottles get recycled, the caps don't. I am still doing research into what happens to bottle caps. I'll let you know what I find out. No I haven't done Haute Couture or Haute Coiffure yet but I am getting there. I am planning a tutorial on these later but I will save this spot to add pics of what I have done with my two latest mediums. I call this first one Caps because that is what I used. Its rough but this is the more recent inspiration sparked by recycling and a serious lack of space. My models are Iasthai(blue) and his twin Iolaus(red) both Orientdoll YI and JI(tinies) Accessories are from my dollhouse and Re-ment collections.
The respective caps are from 42oz bottles of Sprite, Fanta and Coca Cola (green chairs) , Simply Organic orange juice(table top), the needle cap from a .25g insulin needle(lamp body), and the inevitable toothpaste cap(lamp shade). The only non-caps are the cardboard base(table base),ribbon and one silicone pill(Lamp base)found in the packaging of an order. I am working on tiny pillows to finish them better.
I'd like to see what you have crafted out of something ordinary.
